David Seaman shares main problem in Everton relegation battle

David Seaman believes Everton have a lot of things going wrong right now and players aren’t putting in a shift, while speaking on his Seaman Says podcast.

The Toffees were thumped 5-0 on Monday to see them stay just one point above the relegation zone with ten games remaining in their season, despite Frank Lampard’s arrival.

The former Chelsea man made two January signings to bolster the squad, but former Arsenal and England goalkeeper Seaman believes the squad looks ‘disjointed’ and compared them to Manchester United in that their top stars aren’t putting in a shift.

“Everton have more talent than Leeds,” he said. “They are quality players and they’re not doing it.

“There’s a lot of stuff going wrong and a lot of quality players not putting a shift in.

“They look a bit like Man United in that they’re disjointed. You look and think ‘that’s a good team’ and they don’t do it.

“I’m glad we’re talking about Everton and we’re not talking about Leeds.”

Buck up

It’s time for the Toffees to buck up their ideas, or there is a very real chance they could be playing Championship football next season.

They’ve won just two games since way back in October and despite changing the manager, they’ve severely struggled to build any momentum and get their backs up.

At Goodison Park they have performed admirably, beating Brentford and Boreham Wood in the FA Cup and Leeds in the Premier League, as well as taking Man City to their limit.

But away from home they have been horrendous and really given themselves a mountain to climb on every occasion.

It’s something that the team and Lampard really need to address and fix quickly, with a horrible run of games to come between now and the end of the season.

Bad results could see the situation taken out of their hands going forward, and then it will be purely about luck. They can’t rely on that.
