‘Disgusting’ – Tony Scott destroys Everton players amid relegation risk

Tony Scott has savaged the “disgusting” Everton players amid their poor form, claiming the club are in “big, big trouble”.

The Blues find themselves in 17th place in the Premier League, just one point above the drop zone.

With relegation now a genuine threat, Scott questioned the mental and physical strength of the Toffees players.

Speaking on the All Together Now podcast, he said: “Anyone who ever says that that’s not the case, not downing tools: have a look at the away record this season. Have a look at it and tell me otherwise, because it’s disgusting.

“That back four is a disgrace. The midfield weren’t up to much themselves, but they kept on plodding away. The forward line just was non-existent and we’re in big, big trouble. Big, big trouble. Because that back four is so fragile, mentally and physically.”

Must improve

Scott is right to question the teams away form. It is bewildering how Frank Lampard can have such a positive impact when playing at Goodison Park but so terrible away from home.

The Blues just can’t buy a win on their travels of late and that really needs to change if they want to remain in the Premier League next season.

A question has to be asked of the players. Why can’t they win on their travels? Their mentality seems so weak that they just crumble at any sign of the game going against them, including the away fans.

It is a very tough one for Lampard to solve overnight or even by the end of the season, but he needs to try. The players need to have the belief and confidence in themselves and the performances will come.

They are playing for Everton who should be absolutely nowhere near the relegation zone and they need to remember that before it is too late.
