Demarai Gray and Ben Godfrey return – Early Everton team news v Wolves
Everton manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that both Demarai Gray and Ben Godfrey are back in contention to play against Wolves on Sunday.
The former England midfielder has had rotten luck with injuries since his arrival at Goodison Park but this latest news will be music to his ears.
Gray has missed four of the last five games for the Toffees with just 14 minutes off the bench against Manchester City to his name while Godfrey has missed the last six.
The latter started Lampard’s first game in charge against Brentford in the FA Cup but was forced off after just 13 minutes on Merseyside.
The boss confirmed in his pre-match press conference on Friday that both players are now back fit and in contention to play some part in Sunday’s game at home to Wolves.
Now or never
Everton simply cannot wait any longer for this manager and squad combination to click if they want to still be a Premier League side next season.
This weekend is maybe the worst time to face Bruno Lage’s Wolves after their dominant 4-0 win at home to fellow relegation strugglers Watford on Thursday.

The Molineux side will be looking for a similarly fast start that saw them 2-0 to the good in 15 minutes against the Hornets but Lampard will be aware of their eagerness to start quickly.
Gray might be more likely to come straight into the starting XI having played more recently than Godfrey but with Anthony Gordon in such good form, there may not be a place for him from the off.
Godfrey meanwhile has to somehow dislodge Michael Keane or Mason Holgate for his chance in the limelight although the 5-0 drubbing away at Tottenham should open some defensive doors.
In other Everton news, Alan Myers believes the Toffees are close to signing a major new deal to fund the next Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium development.
