Greg O’Keeffe shares Everton plans for new stadium if they get relegated
Everton have already taken into account possible relegation when submitting plans for their new stadium and are confident plans won’t have to be changed.
That’s according to The Athletic journalist Greg O’Keeffe who was answering a fan question during a Q&A on the publication website.
The Toffees have seen plans for the new stadium come under scrutiny following the sanctioning of major sponsor Alisher Usmanov, but with the club just one point above the relegation zone fans have been wondering if that could hurt them too.

According to O’Keeffe, the club are confident that as it stands even if they get relegated they will be able to deliver a new stadium.
If they go down, the club would use parachute payments to help mitigate the loss of other commercial revenue and that would possibly protect their ability to repay money borrowed to build the ground.
Things could change depending on the economy due to covid and other things, but as it stands the club are confident they’ll be fine.
Good news
Obviously getting relegated would be a horrible thing for Everton Football Club, but it would affect them far more than just on the pitch.
The club have big plans and they won’t have foreseen relegation considering the amount of investment into the playing staff and even the managerial team too in recent years.

But considering the situation they find themselves in currently, it’s good to know that a plan is in place in case the worst case scenario does come to light.
The easiest way to avoid all the problems though is to just not get relegated, and that starts with the players and manager doing their jobs and performing much better than they have been doing so far.
The two upcoming home games will give the fans a chance to get behind them, and just imagine the Goodison roar with an extra 13,000 fans inside it.
