View: Everton will miss Fabian Delph v Wolves after Bruno Lage’s words

Everton will miss the influence of Fabian Delph against Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend after his mightily impressive performance against the Molineux outfit last time out.

The last time the two sides met, the Toffees were still being managed by Rafa Benitez and unsurprisingly found themselves 2-0 down at half time.

Benitez then made the decision to switch to a 4-3-3 formation, which current manager Frank Lampard has often backed during his time with the Blues and subbed on veteran Delph.

The impact of Delph in a tweaked system completely flipped the game on its head and the Toffees could have won if they set up like that from the start.

Wolves manager Bruno Lage still remembers Delph’s dominance and he will be a relieved man the midfielder is out injured for the Goodison Park clash.

“It was a hard game,” He told Wolves.

“I remember the game because they put Delph as a central midfielder and dominated a little bit the game. What I want is what we did on Thursday, we reacted.”

Must win

This is one of the many games from now until the end of the season that Everton simply have to win.

The Blues are so bad away from home that they cannot afford to drop any points when playing at Goodison.

It will be a very tough game against an in-form Wolves side looking to secure European football, but the team seem to be able to switch it on at home which should make this a very tense encounter.

It is imperative the home fans get behind the team throughout the whole match, regardless of the result. They are all pushing for one goal in Premier League survival.

The players will have no chance of winning the game if the crowd gets on their backs and it will destroy their confidence going forward.

These are dark, desperate times for Evertonians as they sit just one place and one point above the drop zone. Hopefully the table is an easier sight come the end of the weekend.
