Everton ‘deserve’ to be relegated after 1-0 loss v Wolves – journo
Everton very nearly slipped into the relegation zone on Sunday as they were beaten 1-0 by a well-drilled Wolves side at Goodison Park.
Conor Coady’s flicked header early into the second half was enough to sink the Toffees to their third successive defeat in the Premier League.
They only keep their head above water for now by virtue of goal difference as Watford drew level on points with the Blues by winning 2-1 away at Southampton.
Journalist Richard Buxton believes a lot of the Everton squad deserve to be relegated after the apparent lack of fight from Frank Lampard’s side against Wolves.
“Relegation is no less than a lot of the players in Everton’s squad deserve,” Buxton said via his personal Twitter account.
“Unfortunately, it’s the ones who don’t and the fans that will hurt the most if that worst-case scenario occurs.”
Only going down
When you look at all of the teams also embroiled in this relegation fight, Everton are by far in the worst form.
Norwich were very close to picking up a point at Leeds but the Whites took all three late on to edge clear of the bottom three while Watford, as mentioned, won at St Mary’s.

Luckily for Lampard and the Toffees, Burnley were beaten 2-0 by Brentford on Saturday which kept Sean Dyche’s Clarets below the Merseyside club in the Premier League table, for now.
Something must change and fast because even the famously passionate Goodison Park crowd can’t drag Everton over the line for even a point let alone a victory.
Maybe Lampard is getting found out now and he is struggling to keep swimming and looks more likely to drown than get to safety right now.
In other Everton news, Farhad Moshiri is reportedly ready to make a big behind-the-scenes change at Goodison Park.
