Neville Southall delivers verdict after Everton 1-0 loss v Wolves

Everton lost 1-0 against Wolves in the Premier League at Goodison Park on Sunday (13 March) and they are facing the danger of getting relegated.

The fans are worried and frustrated, naturally, but Neville Southall has urged the fan base to stick together and help the team ease the storm.

Conor Coady scored the only goal of the match in the second half, and there was very little positive to draw from this game.

Southall tweeted after the match: “There’s absolutely no point dwelling on today. We can’t change the result or the performance but what we can do as fans is be ready to get right behind them in the next game.

“It’s a really important time to stay positive because fans can lift a team or destroy them.”

Shockingly poor

While Everton have struggled away from home, their performance at Goodison Park has been far better, relatively.

After today’s performance, that can’t be said with certainty. The confidence has hit rock-bottom, and it will be a tough task for Lampard to fix the team.

The Toffees hardly threatened after going behind and their afternoon turned bad to worse after Jonjoe Kenny was sent off for picking up two yellow cards.

Everton remain in 17th but they now sit just above the relegation zone with a better goal difference. The pressure is mounting after both Leeds and Watford picked up wins today from their respective fixtures.

The fans are doing their best to create a great atmosphere but it’s the players who need to respond. The support of the fans is important, but it’s the players who need to deliver.

The Toffees have a horrible away record, winning just once on the road this season. These stats need to improve if Everton are serious about survival.

There’s still time to turn things around, but the results need to improve. The fans can’t pull the team out of this mire.
