Lewis Dobbin thrilled by Joe Gelhardt despite Leeds win plunging Everton into trouble

Everton crashed to yet another defeat in the Premier League on Sunday, falling to a 1-0 loss against Wolves.

The result was damaging for the Toffees, with Leeds and Watford both picking up wins on the same day.

Joe Gelhardt was the hero for Leeds, and his last-gasp goal gave Everton a four-point gap to the rest of the table above them in 17th.

Lewis Dobbin may not have got that message, though.

Gelhardt celebrated on his personal Instagram account after the game, and the young striker was spotted reacting to the post.

Dobbin was clearly thrilled for one of his close associates, forgetting about the huge relegation battle going on in the Premier League.

Think about it.

Dobbin may not be in the thick of things, but Everton are really in freefall right now and these defeats are not helping.

Of course, we would never take aim at a young player for simply talking to their friends that they have made throughout their careers.

Having said that, there is time and a place, and yesterday certainly wasn’t that as the pressure hit a whole new level at Goodison Park.

It is the time for fight and if the senior players aren’t going to do that, sometimes you need those fearless youngsters – just as Gelhardt showed for Leeds yesterday.

This isn’t the end of the world, but we hope Dobbin can do some talking on the pitch before the end of the season – wow, we need it right now.
