Kevin Campbell: Everton must start Dominic Calvert-Lewin if ‘remotely fit’ with Richarlison
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell worries about the goal-threat for Everton ahead of the massive game against Newcastle and says Dominic Calvert-Lewin must start.
The England striker missed the defeat to Wolves with illness but his predecessor up front for the Toffees wants to see him paired with Richarlison if he’s “remotely fit”.
An improved performance at Goodison Park at the weekend still resulted in another loss, and Campbell is not convinced major changes are required for the Magpies’ visit.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News he assessed the potential for a line-up switch, saying: “I’m not too sure, I thought they’d done okay in midfield etc. It’s just the result that’s gone against them.
“It’s not as if they got completely played off the pitch, but when you’re conceding goals it’s not good.
“Allan could come in, he adds a little bit more steel in there, but I just think they’ve got to get themselves going attacking-wise, I really do.
“If Calvert-Lewin is fit, or remotely fit, then I think him and Richarlison have to play because you need as many threats on the pitch as you can get, and Everton haven’t been blessed with scoring a lot of goals.
“So I think you’ve got to get as many match-winners on the pitch as you can.”

Losing hope is not an option after another opportunity went begging, and the focus must now be on taking three points against Newcastle.
The Saudi-owned side lost their unbeaten streak with Kai Havertz’s late goal at Stamford Bridge, so Frank Lampard has to hope his former side have done him a favour in deflating his opponents.
The only goals for over a month now have come against Boreham Wood so the attacking deficit is reaching a critical stage.
In other Everton news, the Financial Times reports that potential investors have “major concerns” about the club.
