Frank Lampard breaks his hand celebrating Everton last-gasp winner
Frank Lampard says he broke his hand as Everton beat Newcastle United 2-1 at Goodison Park in the Premier League tonight (March 17).
Despite playing with ten men after Allan was shown a controversial straight red card, Alex Iwobi bagged a last-gasp winner in the dying seconds of added time for the Blues.
Lampard was irked by the sending off but hailed the atmosphere in the stadium on an almost very frustrating night on Merseyside.

Speaking to Amazon post-match, he said: “I’ve broken my hand in the celebrations. My bones must be going soft, I don’t remember the moment.
“It was an amazing night, and we need those nights. Spirit and togetherness, the players stood up tonight. It was not a night for quality or calm. It means so much to the stadium we all felt that. I wanted to use the atmosphere.
“Everton fans wanted to see passion. We proved what we could be tonight. I don’ t think it is a red card. It is a yellow, yes, is it a strong yellow? Possibly. But that isn’t a clear error. It was the wrong decision, and we lose Allan for three games.”
Catalyst?
Wow. The scenes in Goodison Park when that last minute winner went in were mental.
A win like that is what the Toffees fans have been waiting for. That could be the catalyst for a run of wins that lift the Blues out of the relegation zone.

The performance wasn’t a million miles off how Everton have been playing in recent weeks, but the main thing is they got the three points and even more importantly, in front of the home fans.
It was on the verge of being another frustrating night for Lampard, but the players showed great character to not only keep fighting until the end but to do it with ten men.
That win has given the Blues a three-point gap from the relegation zone which needs to be extended.
The postponed game against Watford to be rescheduled as well as the game against Burnley now are now vital games that if Everton win, they would likely be safe from relegation.
For now though, all attention turns to the FA Cup and Crystal Palace as Lampard looks to book a place in the semi final.
