Stan Collymore predicts Everton clash v Crystal Palace in FA Cup quarter-finals

Ex-Liverpool forward Stan Collymore predicts Crystal Palace to beat Everton in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday.

Frank Lampard’s men are one win away from a date at Wembley in what has been a bleak season overall for the Toffees.

While they’re battling against relegation in the Premier League, there is this brief respite of playing in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

However, Collymore doesn’t expect things to go well for Everton, predicting a 2-0 win for Crysta Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday.

Writing in the Sunday People [print edition, 20 March, page 57], Collymore said: “Real opportunity for Palace against an Everton side devoid of confidence, despite Thursday’s precious win over Newcastle.”

Bias?

As an ex-Liverpool player, it’s no shock to see Collymore betting against us but also, you cannot blame him.

Everton have been woeful this season and other than an impressive 4-1 win over Brentford, it’s been the luck of the draw that’s helped us get to this stage of the FA Cup.

Hull City and Boreham Wood were barely beaten by the Toffees.

It took until extra-time to beat Championship side Hull and the 2-0 win over Boreham Wood, a side who plays in the National League, was nowhere near good enough.

We wouldn’t be shocked if Crystal Palace end our cup run this weekend and progress to the semi-finals at Wembley.

Even if we do get through this game with a win, momentum may be killed with the international break set to put a pause on what may end up being an unprecedented two-match winning run.

It’s hard to be hopeful as an Evertonian lately, we’ll admit.

In other Everton news, this Blues star may have just saved £70million for under-fire owner Farhad Moshiri.
