Everton could dismiss Dele Alli without having to pay a penny – report

Dele Alli’s Everton career could be over before it has even started, according to reports from TEAMtalk.

The Blues could let the England international leave the club this summer without having to pay a single penny to Tottenham for his service.

Alli was initially signed on a two-and-a-half-year deal from Spurs with Everton paying off his potential £40million fee – depending on clauses – in instalments.

Having failed to play 20 games with the Blues, the club could part ways with the midfielder before they have to pay a £10million fee.

Get rid

It was obviously a big risk when signing the Englishman in January.

There were small glimmers of hope that the former Spurs man might reinvent himself on Merseyside and rediscover that form that saw him tipped as a future star, but that hasn’t quite happened yet.

There is still some time left for him to make his impact at Everton but having seen how he has played so far during his very short spell at the club, that seems very unlikely.

He is a shadow of the player he once was and who knows if he will ever return. You have got to feel bad for him though. When he joined the Toffees he came under so, so much unnecessary scrutiny.

It would be hard for anyone to focus on their job when every single thing you do whether it is the clothes you wear or the car you drive is villainised by the media.

It is a massive slice of luck but not having to pay a penny for his service is a huge boost ahead of the summer transfer window.
