Andy Hinchcliffe left stunned on Sky Sports by Anthony Gordon for England under-21s v Andorra

Andy Hinchcliffe was left amazed by Everton winger Anthony Gordon after he smashed home for England under-21s against Andorra on Friday.

The Toffees sensation came off the bench for Lee Carsley, but still managed to find the back of the net with an exquisite volley.

Sky Sports pundit, Hinchcliffe, labelled the technique as “sensational” as Gordon continued his fine form this season.

Speaking live on Sky Sports coverage of the clash, as shared on Twitter [25 March], Hinchcliffe was left amazed.

“That’s sensational technique,” he said.

“When the ball is out on the right with Livramento, really the Andorran right-back has to think about Anthony Gordon, the ball is nowhere near you but it can very quickly end up in your area of the pitch.

“It does.”

Incredible.

In what has been a very, very dull season so far at Goodison Park, Gordon is certainly one of the few shining lights to come from it.

The young winger is standing up and letting himself be counted when experienced professionals around him are nothing short of embarrassing.

The likes of Dele Alli can’t even get a game despite his wages being huge compared, while Gordon is out carrying the weight of a city on his back.

What is amazing, is that it isn’t weighing him down, though, but actually letting him thrive, with that continuing onto the international stage.

Frank Lampard will know that Gordon is a critical part of this survival bid now, and his performances will go a long way to whether we stay up or not.

Let’s hope he carries on this form and brings it back to Merseyside for a huge push in these last 11 games – bring it on.
