Everton squad overhaul likely in summer, Toffees keen to sell players – report

Everton are likely to overhaul their squad in the upcoming summer of 2022, according to Adam Jones.

The reliable journalist has insisted that Kevin Thelwell is set for a huge few months ahead of the summer, with Farhad Moshiri’s player investment not ending well so far.

It is suggested that out-of-contract players will leave as well as the club being keen to sell some of their current squad.

Writing in his latest column for the Liverpool ECHO, Jones insisted that Moshiri’s investment is in tow.

“This could also be an important period for Thelwell, as he takes stock ahead of what will be yet another crucial transfer window for Everton,” he wrote.

“How many times have we said that over the course of the last few years with Farhad Moshiri’s investment in tow?

“There’s likely to be an overhaul of the squad once again in the summer. Players will be going out-of-contract, the club will be keen to sell others, while some stars will be attracting unwanted attention from a number of Europe’s biggest clubs.”

Vital.

This has been needed for years.

Frank Lampard will play a huge role in this alongside Thelwell and Moshiri, with some players somehow still at the club despite making no impact.

We would need two hands to name how many of this current squad could leave or be sold without any complaints from fans, and that should never be the case.

Salomon Rondon and Cenk Tosun would be two of those in the final third, with their wages simply an embarrassment to the club at this point.

Others such as Dele Alli and Alex Iwobi will be fighting for their futures at Goodison Park in these next 11 games, with relegation, not an option.

Should that somehow happen, the likes of Jordan Pickford, Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison will be gone as soon as possible.

It would be a financial disaster if we dropped down to the Championship, and if Moshiri’s investments are in tow now, we dread to imagine what would happen if we finished in the bottom three.
