Everton defender Yerry Mina set for on field individual training – Pipe Sierra
Columbian journalist Pipe Sierra has provided a hugely positive injury update for Everton defender Yerry Mina as he nears a return to action.
The centre-back suffered a quadricep injury in the Blues’ 3-1 defeat against Newcastle [February 8] and hasn’t featured since.
The 27-year-old’s injury is recovering in the “best way possible” according to Sierra with the Columbian international expected to return to individual training at Finch Farm imminently.
He said: “Yerry Mina’s recovery from a quadricep injury is progressing in the best possible way and he will return to individual training in the field in the coming days.
“The Colombian defender has not played with Everton since February 8.”
Game changer
This is a massive boost for Frank Lampard and Everton.
Mina is a brilliant defender, the squad’s best, and him only playing ten Premier League games this season is a big contributing factor to the embarrassing position they find themselves in the league.
It is a shame the former Barcelona man hasn’t made his return earlier but him being in contention to make his return before the end of the season is still very positive.

His return could be the difference between relegation or not with the Toffees’ backline genuinely awful.
Shipping four goals against a Crystal Palace side that didn’t play excellent would have sent alarm bells ringing for Lampard and he will be keeping a close eye on the progress of the defender’s recovery.
One or two good results could be the difference between the Premier League and Championship next season but the Blues need to be careful not to rush their key man back before he is ready.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are set for a summer of departures amid financial worries according to Dean Jones.
