Everton to sign new shirt sponsor amid £120m loss

Everton already have a shirt sponsor lined up to replace Cazoo for next season, according to a report from the Liverpool Echo.

The online car dealership firm has already confirmed that they won’t be continuing their sponsorship of the Toffees beyond the end of this season.

The Cazoo deal is worth £10million per year but Everton activated a break clause in the contract towards the end of 2021.

The Liverpool Echo believe that the club have their replacement already in place having received improved offers from other companies interested in a deal.

After the club posted their accounts on Tuesday (29 March), they will need a big shirt sponsor having recorded a whopping £120.9million loss over the 2020-21 financial period.

Choose wisely

It’s no surprise that there are plenty of interested companies wanting to get their name in the Premier League spotlight.

There are more eyes on the English top division than any other sports league in the world and anyone would want to see their brand shown off on a team’s shirt.

But Everton have to be careful who they select to emblazon on the front of their shirts.

There is a growing number of betting sponsors across English clubs and it isn’t a cause that the club should want to get behind if they can avoid it in any way.

Alcohol and tobacco sponsorships are thankfully banned and betting should be too in reality.

So let’s hope that there are plenty of non-betting companies that want to sponsor the Toffees next season because it’s the last thing Evertonians want to see.

In other Everton news, these European giants are looking for a way out of a contractual obligation with the Toffees to make a new signing.
