David Moyes makes ‘very tough’ Everton relegation prediction

David Moyes has tipped Everton for Premier League survival amid their ongoing relegation battle as West Ham welcomes the Blues to the London Stadium on Sunday [April 3].

Frank Lampard’s side sits dangerously close to the drop zone in 17th, with just a three-point safety cushion on the bottom three.

The Scot believes his former team have shown enough fight under their new boss to ensure Premier League survival.

He told West Ham: “I think Everton are good enough to stay in the Premier League and come the end of the season you’ll find that.”

He added: “I think that we’ve seen Everton and they’ve had some really good performances – they had a good win against Newcastle a few weeks ago. I’ve seen them in other games where they’d probably be disappointed, but that’s the way the Premier League is. A lot of the games are tight.

“It will be a very tough game and from our point of view, we have to keep winning to keep up with the teams in the top half of the league. We have a lot to play for. We feel it’s more about us than Everton, so I’m concentrated on what we have to do at West Ham.”

No more excuses.

Moyes is still a blue, isn’t he?

As much as the former boss’ encouraging words are nice to hear, it doesn’t change a single thing for Lampard or Everton. They simply have to start picking up some points and gaining some momentum from now until the end of the season.

There is no better place to start than against the top four pushers, West Ham. Yes, the Toffees have been terrible on the road and beating an in-form team like the Hammers seems impossible, but it would be a great sign of intent to the rest of the teams at the bottom of the table. One that shows Everton isn’t messing around anymore.

Most of the players have just benefitted from a two-week break away from playing and the increasingly strenuous burden of relegation hanging over them.

Hopefully, they can come back from their international breaks fit and raring to go, righting the many wrongs of the season by clinching Premier League survival.
