Everton man Tim Cahill hints at being ‘top leader in football’ in future
Tim Cahill, a key figure behind the scenes at Everton, has his sights set on being a “top leader in football” in the future as he discussed the World Cup in Qatar.
The Goodison Park favourite has been lending a helping hand to Frank Lampard since the manager joined the club in late January in a more advisory role alongside director of football Kevin Thelwell.
The Australian spoke to the Herald Sun in his homeland about what may come down the line for him in the game.

“Taking a back seat has pretty much been where I see myself but taking that back seat is going to escalate me to somewhere that is going to be I think in the future a top leader in football and especially here in Qatar,” Cahill said.
“When I got closer to having opportunities to coach and manage, I started to see the world.
“I said to myself, Okay, let’s put the handbrake up, let’s not accept being a manager. Why can’t I oversee a big institution? Why can’t I be a CEO? Why can’t I be director of football? Why can’t I own a football club?'”
He must stay
We might not have seen the full effect of his impact yet at Goodison Park but if we want to see our club reach the levels we know it can, Cahill must be a part of it.

The way he appears to see every aspect of the game is completely refreshing and something that the Toffees have needed for a very long time.
With the Australian at the helm, the club will hopefully start to make the right decision when it comes to managerial changes, transfers and all kinds of off-field choices.
Not only is he a very deep thinker about the game but he has also become something of an Everton fan having been a cult hero on Merseyside during the 2000s and 2010s in the famous blue.
He may not be the first name anyone thinks of when it comes to being the boss but he could just be the best Everton could wish for.
In other Everton news, Paul Merson has predicted a “worrying” time for Lampard’s Toffees away at West Ham on Sunday.
