Sky Sports pundit heaps pressure on Everton results after major Tuesday announcement

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

News this week that Everton made over £100million in losses for a third straight year makes avoiding relegation even more crucial says Kevin Campbell.

The club released a statement (29 March) explaining a loss of £120.9million in the year to June 2021 where the club was heavily affected by Covid-19, but on top of big losses in the two years previous under Farhad Moshiri it makes for a concerning position.

Sky and talkSPORT pundit Campbell is worried about the club’s future earnings if they fall out of the Premier League, considering the current finances.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News he said: “I think with what’s happened in the last few years, I don’t think anyone has made a profit.

“But because of the precarious position the club’s in in the league then I think it has to take on even more significance.

“It’s why the club really have to make sure they have a plan to stay in the division.

“I think that’s so important because if you lose that ability to earn and generate the funds, it’s a big drop if they ever step out of the Premier League.

“For me it just adds to the fact that Everton have to stay in the Premier League.”

The Toffees travel to West Ham today (3 April) in the first of three matches inside seven days, and really need a decent number of points on the board at the end of it.

With the £500million Bramley-Moore Dock stadium development reaching another milestone recently, and the loss of the Alisher Usmanov sponsorship money after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the pressure is really on.

Frank Lampard has just had two weeks during the international break to prepare his plan, and fans will be desperate to see it have an affect starting at the London Stadium.

In other Everton news, Campbell believes one Toffee was “systematically destroyed” before he signed for the club.
