Everton could be sued by Premier League clubs over £373m losses

Certain Premier League clubs have not ruled out the possibility of suing Everton over their recent financial losses, according to the Daily Mail.

Clubs in England’s top division are permitted to make a loss of no more than £105million over the previous three financial years but the Toffees announced a £120million loss over just the past 12 months last week.

That takes their overall losses for the past three years to a huge £373million although some of that money has been disregarded due to being used to fund the new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium and the impact of COVID-19 – which was a large reason for their most recent losses.

The Daily Mail claim that several Premier League clubs, none of which were named, aren’t happy with this situation and are ready to threaten legal action.

They may even sue the club in a similar way that Middlesbrough and Wycombe did to Derby County last year.

The Mail report that: “Sources at several clubs have pointed out that Everton’s write-offs due to Covid are way above most of those in the Premier League, despite the fact their missing gate receipts are considerably smaller.

“Everton’s rivals are not convinced by their calculations, however, and have taken matters into their own hands after failing to get the answers they were looking for in Premier League shareholders’ meetings.”

Big trouble

We all already knew that things were not going smoothly in the board room but this takes things to a whole new level entirely.

Everton Farhad Moshiri

Farhad Moshiri and his endless throwing of money at the problem is causing this community cub to fall heavily into disrepute and there is very little light at the end of the tunnel at the moment.

These clubs preparing to sue the Toffees have every right to if they believe we are taking advantage of circumstances to make bigger losses than we should.

There is no hiding the facts that the club published last week and it is clear that we are not doing good enough to run a sustainable football club that runs only on small losses.

The worst part is that we aren’t even competing having done all of this but rather battling a relegation fight and should we go down, it could be a very long wait before we return to the Premier League.

In other Everton news, Frank Lampard has confirmed this Toffees player is out for the season with an operation planned.
