BBC pundit raves about Everton forward Richarlison v Burnley

Michael Brown has showered heaps of praise on Everton forward Richarlison after he scored a “brilliant” penalty in the first half.

The Toffees were put on backfoot as Burnley took the lead through Nathan Collins, thanks to some shambolic defending from the visitors.

Anthony Gordon earned a penalty for the Toffees a few minutes later to make it 1-1. Richarlison slotted home with great aplomb.

The Brazilian scored again from the spot to make it 2-1 at the break. Brown was effusive about him after the second goal.

“Magnificent composure from Richarlison, you fancied him all the way. He waited for Pope to commit and he put it in exactly the same corner as before,” said Brown on the second penalty on BBC Radio 5 Live as relayed by the BBC Sport website.

Cool penalty

This is a must win game for the Toffees and once they made a poor start.

Mason Holgate picked up a yellow card in the second minute of the game, and the defence looked nervy throughout.

Alex Iwobi once again missed his marker, and Collins scored from a set-piece. It is remarkable how poor the defence has been for the Toffees.

However, as the game went on the visitors played with more conviction and energy.

Gordon once again has provided the impetus for a comeback when he drove into the box and earned a penalty for his side.

Richalison took it really well. It was his first goal for the club in the last 10 matches. He scored again towards the end to give a big lead for the Toffees after Vitali Mykolenko earned another penalty.

Frank Lampard needs three points, and they must keep searching for the third goal to take the game beyond doubt.
