Sky pundit predicts Donny van de Beek to leave Everton amid big Thursday news on Man United

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Donny van de Beek has a future at Manchester United and will leave Everton if Erik ten Hag is appointed manager predicts Kevin Campbell.

The January loan signing was thought to want out of Old Trafford permanently after a nightmare stint at the club since his arrival from Ajax, but with his former boss in the Netherlands widely reported on Thursday (7 April) to be in line to take over that could change his fortunes.

The midfielder was injured before the loss at West Ham, and has struggled to impose himself after a good start at Goodison, but Sky Sports pundit Campbell is not surprised after his lack of football in Manchester.

He told Goodison News exclusively: “I like van de Beek, I think he’s a good player. He’s played some really good games for Everton.

“But unfortunately, a bit like Dele Alli, he hasn’t played a lot of football.

“So what happens without playing football is you start to pick up injuries because you haven’t played a lot.

“Unfortunately this is the curse that Everton have to deal with right now.

“Listen, I believe if ten Hag comes in then obviously he knows him very well, maybe he’ll have a future at Old Trafford.

“If it’s [Mauricio] Pochettino or someone else, I don’t know, because obviously they’ll have their own ideas of what they’re looking at.

“So there might be an opportunity for Everton to sign him, [but only] if it’s not ten Hag.”

The 24-year-old looked revitalised to finally be let loose on a football pitch again when he helped orchestrate the dismantling of Leeds (12 February) not long after he arrived.

He hasn’t quite hit those heights since but there were hopes he could be brought in on a permanent basis, before fortunes slipped further at the club in recent weeks.

With ten Hag looking likely to be installed at United, that is probably the single biggest move that could have improved his chances of success at his parent club, so a return now seems logical.

In other Everton news, Frank Lampard may have lost the dressing room after rumours emerge of unrest similar to at Chelsea.
