Sky Sports share footage of Cristiano Ronaldo ‘incident’ at Everton, Man United investigating
Manchester United are reportedly investigating an ‘”incident” after full time of the 1-0 loss at Everton involving Cristiano Ronaldo, Sky Sports report.
The broadcaster shared footage, originally posted online by the Everton Hub on Twitter, appearing to show the five-time Ballon d’Or winner hitting something out of the hand of a fan, believed to be a mobile phone.
A deflected Anthony Gordon strike was enough to secure a priceless win for the home side in the relegation battle, as a frustrating afternoon for the visitors saw their top four hopes take a hit.
Sky Sports reported on their Twitter page alongside the footage: “Man United are looking into an incident involving Cristiano Ronaldo and what eyewitnesses say was a mobile phone hitting the ground after his side’s defeat at Goodison Park.”
Everton Hub subsequently posted another image of a broken phone lying in the tunnel area of the ground.
Bad day for some
A frustrating day for the Red Devils’ superstar was a hugely uplifting one for the Toffees.
The defeat at Burnley during the week (6 April) had shifted the worries about relegation up another few notches, but manager Frank Lampard got a response today.
Aided by a poor visiting performance from the Old Trafford side, the home team secured a valuable clean sheet, meaning Gordon’s goal was all they needed for all three points.

A defensive unit that has been so poor in recent weeks was markedly better, with Ben Godfrey and Michael Keane repelling numerous crosses.
Jordan Pickford made some crucial saves and was sharp on multiple occasions to snuff out danger.
In the latest indication that the Goodison crowd makes a noticeable difference, the players lifted their game in front of the Toffees faithful to win a game that not many had down as a likelihood.
In other Everton news, Gary Neville reacted to what he saw in the game online by calling it a “joke”.
