James McFadden drools over Everton trio after win v Manchester United

Everton picked up a crucial 1-0 win against Manchester United at Goodison Park on Saturday in the Premier League.

The Toffees cult hero, James McFadden has praised Everton’s trio of Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, and Ben Godfrey.

The Toffees returned to winning ways after a disappointing 3-2 defeat against Burnley in the previous game.

“Jordan Pickford was outstanding, Michael Keane and Ben Godfrey have both come in for a lot of criticism but they were excellent, difficult to beat, putting blocks in,” said McFadden on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“Great performances all over the pitch for Everton, a fantastic result but there’s still a lot to be done.”

Consistency

Anthony Gordon’s deflected goal in the first half proved to be the difference between the two sides.

Pickford was also brilliant as he made two fine saves off Marcus Rashford in the first half and blocked an effort from Cristiano Ronaldo as well.

Keane and Godfrey have come under major criticism at times this season, but it was a superb performance from both of them.

While Godfrey has been more or less consistent with his performance, the same can’t be said about Keane. He picked up a red card against West Ham and has let his team down on a few occasions this season.

That is the major problem with Keane. There are games when he looks rock solid at the back, while at times he simply throws it away. Against the Toffees, Keane did have a few nervy moments in the first half, but he improved as the game progressed.

In other Everton news, an on-loan Toffee has been given no chance of making his stay permanent.
