Jermaine Beckford suggests Dele Alli won’t be at Everton next season

As January signings go, there can’t have been too many that have fallen so short of the expected hype than Dele Alli at Everton.

The 25-year-old arrived at Goodison Park on deadline day from Tottenham Hotspur having fallen out of favour in North London and in need of a fresh start.

The Toffees haven’t yet paid a penny to Spurs for Alli but those instalments will begin in the summer and could cost up to £40million.

Jermaine Beckford though doesn’t believe he will even be an Everton player by the time the summer transfer window shuts at the end of August.

When asked by Stadium Astro whether Alli will still be on Merseyside next season, he said, “No. No, I don’t. Dele Alli has had umpteen chances.

“He played under some incredible managers and once Poch left there were so many managers who gave him the opportunity. And the same thing happened again, his levels diminished and disappeared.

“For me, that’s nothing to do with the football club. All of the managers he’s had have been incredible. The same problem keeps on arising and it’s him! He has got a problem.”

Get out of England

It’s not quite career over yet for Alli but the longer he stays in England, the worse it’s going to get.

The English media is always extremely quick to jump onto the back of any young player who is not scoring a million goals every game and Alli has massively suffered from this pressure.

He is yet to start a Premier League game for Everton since his January arrival and he hasn’t shown anything to suggest he should be in Frank Lampard’s plans whenever he’s been given the chance.

The best thing for him right now would be to leave England altogether and try to regain his confidence while playing in Europe where the English media aren’t microscopically analysing everything he does.

He certainly won’t be in Everton’s plans next season so he really does have to get out of town for the good of him and the club.
