Kevin Campbell won’t think about any Everton finance punishment yet, after threats to sue raised
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
The entire focus for Everton has to be staying in the Premier League, and any fallout from the financial side has to wait according to Kevin Campbell.
The club announced a third straight year of huge losses in their most recent accounts, and while they believe they are within the rules on sustainability a recent Daily Mail report raised the spectre of relegation rivals suing in future.
But with the threat of disaster on the pitch even more pressing, Sky Sports pundit and former Toffee Campbell is refusing to even think about the money problems.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News he said: “Well I think what’s got to happen is Everton have just got to do their business.
“If there were any problems then I’m sure that will come out in the wash.
“But I don’t really know what teams are trying to do. And then what is the punishment? Is it a fine? Is it docking of points?
“I don’t know and I don’t really want to go down that route at the moment, the key is Everton have got to do the business on the pitch to stay in the league.
“That’s it. And what happens after that happens. If there’s been wrongdoing then I’m sure it will all come out in the wash.”

Regulations allow up to £105million in losses over a three year period in the Premier League, which the Toffees are way over at closer to £400million.
But with different rules applying in light of Covid, and various acceptable spending not counted, such as on the stadium development or women’s team, the club believe they are safe.
It is not a closed case however, but all bets are off if the side go down so the first port of call has to be to secure top flight survival.
In other Everton news, one Toffee was picked out on Match of the Day for his best ever showing against Manchester United.
