Simon Jordan slams Cristiano Ronaldo for insulting Everton fan apology

Simon Jordan has emptied both barrels on Cristiano Ronaldo following his “stupid and petulant” actions as Everton beat Manchester United 1-0 on Saturday [April 9].

The former Real Madrid star was seen slapping a child’s hand away as he walked down the tunnel at Goodison Park which resulted in his phone being smashed.

Jordan played down the assault allegations against the 37-year-old but insisted he must pay for his behaviour.

He responded on talkSPORT via Express after it was said the fan could be invited to a game at Old Trafford: “That’s just adding insult to injury, because who would want to do that?

“That’s a punishment. He should absolutely apologise.

“He should buy the kid a new phone. These are things you should want to do, because, ultimately, you have behaved badly for a moment.

He added: “There is no excuse where someone as iconic in people’s minds [should do something like this]. This is someone so used to this that he should be able to rise above it.

“What was it really? It was a stupid and petulant act, did he mean to do what he did, or was it a lash out without really thinking? Did he know it was a child?

“He knocked a kid’s phone out of his hand, it’s unacceptable behaviour and he should be consequenced, reprimanded, I think he should apologise to the kid and replace his property. But when we start elevating to assault, I think that diminishes what assault actually is.”

Shocker.

Make no mistake, this is all about the ego of one man who thinks he is better than everyone else around him.

His invite to Old Trafford was very wide of the mark. No Evertonian would want to go and watch United play at Old Trafford unless they were playing the Blues.

You would imagine he will be handsomely compensated for the damages and probably come off much better after the incident.

It was the perfect day at Goodison. Not only did Frank Lampard and his players take a hugely important step towards Premier League survival, but they also did it against the Red Devils whilst rattling one of the greatest players of all time.

It was brilliant seeing the former Juventus man sulk all game and completely lose his head on his way off the field.

The Blues have to build on this momentum and get themselves as far away from the drop zone as possible, there are no more excuses after that result.
