Sky Sports pundit amused as Sean Dyche’s “bulletin board material” for Everton backfires

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Sean Dyche’s comments about Everton during his side’s 3-2 win became “bulletin board material” for Frank Lampard says Kevin Campbell.

The Clarets boss revealed following the game last week (6 April) that he had told his players that the Toffees had forgotten how to win amid a dreadful run of away form (The Times).

Lampard’s side rebounded to record a creditable victory over Manchester United in the next match, while Dyche’s Burnley went on to lose to the Premier League’s bottom side Norwich, which wasn’t lost on Sky pundit Campbell.

He started to laugh when he exclusively told Goodison News: “Well, do you know what, it’s bulletin board material isn’t it?

I’m sure Frank Lampard would have used that, played it or put it up – ‘They’ve forgotten how to win’ etc. etc. etc.

“Yeah it does look that way, and it does look like they’re shooting themselves in the foot, but the moment you start coming out with it publicly and saying it the opposition manager has to use it as fuel to the fire.

“Everton responded. That’s what he wanted. That’s what Frank Lampard sent them out to do, to respond and I thought they deserved the win [against United].”

Dyche set himself up, and duly fell, which should probably be a lesson to all managers, especially when they are currently in the relegation zone.

They were certainly worth their late win at Turf Moor, as the dreaded away defending reared its head and conceded three times to negate two Richarlison penalties, but not so in the following fixture.

The result brought the gap down to a single point between the relegation rivals, then was instantly undone at the weekend and is now back up to four, but there is still a long way to go before the season ends.

In other Everton news, an ex-Liverpool player has trolled the club over “Agent Rafa” Benitez.
