Yerry Mina returns to Everton training after quadriceps injury

Everton defender Yerry Mina is back in full training, with the club releasing footage of his return on their social media channels.

The Colombian centre-back scored as a substitute in Frank Lampard’s first game against Brentford, but was forced off injured in the next game with a quadriceps injury and hasn’t featured since.

But now the former Barcelona man is back in full training and could return to the starting lineup against Leicester next weekend in a huge boost to the side.

Since Mina’s absence, the team have conceded a huge 21 goals in all competitions across 12 games. But after a clean sheet against Man United last time out, it’s the perfect time for him to return.

Morale is high and the Toffees have a huge run of fixtures to close out their season, so having their leader and best defender back is ideal for all.

Massive

Everton need all the help they can get right now when it comes to their survival hopes, so the return of their 6ft 4 monster at the back is only a positive thing.

The club haven’t rushed him back either, with the 27-year-old returning to individual training a few weeks ago and being eased back into things.

But with morale high going into this short break between fixtures, Lampard now has more senior options to choose from at the back and that will see the team strengthened and harder to beat.

With a four point gap between themselves and the bottom three currently, their main goal has to be not to lose games and then take wins wherever they can.

They’re in a much better position than they were just a week ago now and they’re getting stronger with his return, so things are looking up at Goodison Park.
