Everton trio out in the cold as Sky Sports pundit identifies ‘excellent’ player who must start
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
The return of Fabian Delph for Everton showed all of his “know how” and looks to have cemented the midfield line-up going forward, believes Kevin Campbell.
The ex-Manchester City man came back from a long injury lay-off against Manchester United and performed excellently in the 1-0 win.
His ability and the corresponding performances of those around him mean it is going to be a struggle for others to get back into the team according to Sky Sports pundit Campbell.

He exclusively told Goodison News: “Listen, I thought Delph was excellent [against Man United]. I really did. His control of the game, his passing, his know-how, his positioning.
“And I’m not saying some of the other players, [Abdoulaye] Doucoure and stuff, don’t. But I just think Delph’s got a know-how. He’s got a Premier League winner’s medal.
“He knows how to play the game, he’s got experience.
“I think him and Allan were really good in midfield, and the old saying [is], ‘You don’t change a winning side’.
“I think that Everton side could go again.”

Doucoure, Donny van de Beek, and Dele Alli face an uphill battle to force there way into the XI after the win.
The latter was behind even Mason Holgate in the midfield pecking order previously so looks to have next to no chance with Delph fit and Allan back from suspension.
And Dutch loan signing van de Beek’s injury in the warm-ups at West Ham looks to have come at the worst time, as there aren’t recent performances to stick in his manager’s mind, and the man who took his spot while loan rules kept him out at Goodison appears to have demoted him to the bench.
In other Everton news, there is a big transfer boost as “comfortable headroom” with the Premier League means two major exits may not happen.
