View: Everton need to axe Jonjoe Kenny in summer, he’s not good enough

Everton need to show Jonjoe Kenny the backdoor in the summer because he simply isn’t good enough to play for the club.

Frank Lampard backed the Liverpool born defender when he first came to the club but much like with every other manager he has increasingly fallen out of favour under the new boss.

The right-back has been a part of the senior set-up at Finch Farm since 2017 without making any notable impact with a number of unsuccessful loans doing very little to kickstart his Toffees career.

With the former Chelsea boss looking to reshape the Blues’ mess of a squad in the summer, the 25-year-old needs to be one of the many players axed.

Devastating

It seems as if Farhad Moshiri and Everton simply buy players for the sake of it. They prised Scottish starlet Nathan Patterson away from Rangers in January for a sizeable £12million fee.

Understandably, he might not have been ready to be thrown into the deep end with the Blues being in relegation crisis when he first joined as they still very much are but he and everyone would have expected the youngster to have played more.

Kenny being in the squad has left the Scotland international by the waistline with it being far too easy to back Kenny.

Take Vitaliy Mykolenko for example, being the only left-back in the squad has seen the Ukrainian play a hell of a lot more than Patterson and the 22-year-old has progressed so much as a result but even Kenny has been shifted out to the left at times.

Not only is Kenny blocking the door for another right-sided defender to join the club but he is massively hindering the new players that have already come in.

In other Everton news, the Blues are to axe several senior players in summer for “hungrier” alternatives according to Chris Beesley.
