Ian Wright sends Everton relegation warning after Sean Dyche sacking

Ian Wright believes the run-in Everton have is ‘really tough’ and a new manager bounce at Burnley could see them in trouble after Sean Dyche was sacked.

Dyche was sacked on Friday after just four wins all season left Burnley four points behind Everton in their bid for safety. But the Toffees have a very difficult end of season run-in, starting with Leicester at the weekend.

Speaking to Premier League Productions [April 16, 12:06pm] before Burnley’s draw with West Ham on Sunday, Wright sent Frank Lampard’s sign a big warning when it comes to their Premier League status.

“It depends on the manager they can bring in and if he can give them that lift because they are going to need it,” he said. “You look at Everton and their run-in.

“If I am Burnley, then I am looking at Everton and thinking, we have to get something out of here because Everton, yes we saw the result against Manchester United.

“But that run-in for Everton looks really tough, so whoever is coming in, they should be looking at (Burnley’s) games and seeing if he can get that manager’s bounce. But I still feel for Sean Dyche.”

Trouble

Everton got a huge win over Manchester United last time out and then were afforded a nice two week break, but their problems seem to have been forgotten because of that.

The Toffees have really struggled away from home in particular this season, losing every single game away from Goodison Park under Lampard. But their home form has been great and is keeping them afloat currently.

That’s not something they can simply rely on though, and if Burnley are able to pick up points with a new manager then that away form could prove to be detrimental.

Everton must pay attention to themselves and not what is happening elsewhere. Their safety is currently in their own hands and if they do their jobs, then it doesn’t matter what Burnley do.

The only way a new manager bounce can have an effect against the Blues is if they fail to build on their momentum and fall back into their ways.
