Lewis Jones predicts result of Everton clash vs Leicester

Sky Sports expert Lewis Jones says he will be going against his gut instinct but is predicting Everton to earn a draw against Leicester on Wednesday night.

The Toffees are in action for the first time since their 1-0 win over Manchester United over a week ago, in the first of a double-header against the Foxes in their final eight games of the season.

Jones, writing in his predictions column, says he is expecting a ‘raucous mood’ at Goodison Park and while everything points towards a Leicester victory, he is picking a 1-1 draw to help them edge closer to safety.

“Leicester City are set to play a huge part in whether Everton will be a Premier League team next season,” he said.

“Having to play Leicester twice surely is a great result for Frank Lampard’s side, especially with fixtures to come against Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.

“With Goodison Park likely to be in raucous mood – a location where Lampard has generated nine points from a possible 15 available since taking charge – I’m going to swerve my gut instinct to back Leicester at what looks a tasty price. Play the draw.”

Huge

This is a huge game in Everton’s season to be able to create real distance between themselves and Burnley and the rest of the bottom three.

A three point gap with a game in hand is currently what they have, but they will face Leicester twice, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Watford and Brentford before the end of the season.

With Burnley making their final play by sacking Sean Dyche, a new manager bounce with an ‘easier’ run-in could be exactly what they need to leapfrog the Toffees.

Fans will be confident at home though. Their record at Goodison under Lampard has been good and the fans have made a real difference in recent games to get the players up a level.

They will be needed again and if they can secure a win, that six-point gap with seven games to play looks much more attractive and could be enough to save them.
