Everton news: Donny van de Beek to hold Manchester United crunch talks with Erik ten Hag – Fabrizio Romano

Everton loanee Donny van de Beek will hold crunch talks with incoming Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking via his YouTube channel on 20 April, the Guardian journalist reported that ten Hag, who managed van de Beek at Ajax, will want discussions with the 25-year-old to see if he’s on board with his project at Old Trafford.

It is understood that ten Hag wants to gauge van de Beek’s commitment to Man United before the end of June.

“[It’s] really important for Erik ten Hag to decide as soon as possible on the players who are out on loan,” said Romano on his YouTube channel on 20 April.

“Donny van de Beek, he knows Donny very well so he’ll have a conversation with him to decide on his future.”

Romano added: “He wants these players to decide if they are a part of the project or not now, in May or in June. Not at the end of the market.”

Let him go?

We have no doubt about van de Beek’s talent.

At the end of the day, this is a player who has reached two Europa League finals, won the Dutch Eredivisie, played in a Champions League semi-final and played 19 times for the Netherlands national team.

Van de Beek is a good midfielder.

However, it hasn’t worked out for him at Manchester United and since joining Everton on loan in January, the same can be said.

Yes, van de Beek’s been injured and it’s tough to judge a player who’s barely played – he’s played just six times since arriving on loan in January. But should Everton just let him go and not bother trying to seek a second loan deal or a permanent swoop in the summer?

Everything about this season, with the exception of Anthony Gordon, has been rotten.

Van de Beek was a player in bad place signing for a club in a bad place – no one can be surprised by what’s followed since.

It doesn’t seem like he has a future in English football, if we’re brutally honest, and even ten Hag may come to that conclusion in the summer.

In other Everton news, this “outstanding” striker has admitted he’s open to a loan exit as he looks for crunch talks with his agent.
