Sky Sports pundit tells Everton let Fabian Delph speak to other clubs before offering new deal
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Everton should “chill out” and see if Fabian Delph plays every game before deciding whether to offer him a new deal in the summer says Kevin Campbell.
The midfielder came back from injury to put in a strong performance in the victory against Manchester United (9 April) but has only made 32 league appearances across three seasons at the club.
Despite his quality Sky Sports pundit Campbell wants to know that he is worth investing in, and only at the right price.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News he said: “I think they could just chill out on this one. I think they can wait to see if he plays every game until the end of the season.
“Then it’s a matter of looking at what Frank Lampard wants to do, who he wants to bring in, who he wants to keep.
“And as he’s on a free, he’s allowed to speak to anybody he wants to, and then if it’s something you want to do then you put your cap in the ring.
“You ask him the question and see if you can get the numbers right.
“He has had a lot of injury problems and we know what a good player he is but again the best ability is availability, and he hasn’t been available enough.”

On the evidence of his impressive return against United to add some steal to a midfield that has struggled the 32-year-old would seem an obvious candidate to stay.
But considering his age and his chronic inability to stay fit at the club, it would be far too risky to rush into anything.
Although his transfer fee of around £10million when he signed from Manchester City is far more reasonable than many, the return the club has got arguably makes him another waste of money when wages are considered, and there needs to be far less of that in the future.
In other Everton news, Gary Lineker was conflicted after drama in the clash between two of his former sides.
