Sky Sports pundit tells Sunderland loanee Nathan Broadhead to leave Everton amid late goal drama

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

On-loan Sunderland striker Nathan Broadhead doesn’t have a future at Everton and should be looking to leave the club says Kevin Campbell.

The 24-year-old has scored 11 times for the Black Cats, including two in the win over Shrewsbury last week (15 April), with the second a 92nd-minute winner as they challenge for the League One playoffs.

Sky Sports pundit Campbell accepts the Welshman has talent but doesn’t see it being enough for the Premier League, meaning he needs to move on.

“I just don’t see it. I think he’s a good player, but there’s levels to this,” he said, speaking exclusively to Goodison News.

“Sunderland are a League One [side]. He’s doing really well there, but he hasn’t played Championship before, he’s played League One. And he’s in one of the stronger teams in the league as well, that’s the other thing.

“So let’s see how it goes. I just think the likes of Ellis Simms is in front of him, who’s doing a good job at Hearts.

“I think at 24, really you’re going to probably have to be looking to leave Everton and going and cutting your teeth somewhere else.”

As the senior strikers have struggled so badly for goals during the Premier League relegation fight, the sight of other players on the books knocking them in has got some wondering.

But success in the third tier is a very different challenge to the English top flight.

And he is not a teenager with plenty of time to move up through the divisions, so if Broadhead’s level is closer to where he is playing now there is little chance of a long-term future at Goodison Park.

In other Everton news, the club have managed to secure a deal that has left rival Premier League executives “gobsmacked”.
