Trevor Sinclair claims it’s ‘impossible’ to call relegation battle between Everton and Burnley
Trevor Sinclair has fired a huge warning to Everton after Burnley picked up a win over Southampton in the battle against relegation on Thursday night.
Burnley earned a dominant 2-0 win at Turf Moor to move to within one point of the Toffees, having played one game more than Frank Lampard’s side.
But it means they’ve picked up four points from the two games since sacking Sean Dyche and Sinclair says they won’t go down without a fight, something he told the talkSPORT breakfast show [April 22, 8:10] that he can’t guarantee from Everton.

“They [Burnley] would have done their due diligence,” he said.
“They would have looked at the fixture list that Everton have got, I don’t care what anyone says, whether they’ve done it as a squad or whether they’ve done that individually and they’ll look at the fixture list Everton have got and they’ll go, ‘no, no, no, we’ve got a chance here,’ straight away, all of them.
“I think they’ve got a team full of men that will be taking responsibility and they won’t be losing points from a lack of effort or lack of determination or a lack of desire. They’ll be losing points off getting beat by a better team. I’m not sure you can say the same about Everton this season.
“It’s impossible to know [who gets relegated]. I do think Watford and Norwich, I feel they’re gone. There’s like six or seven points between them, I don’t see that rally.
“Whereas with Everton with the draw the other night, being able to drag themselves back into the game and nick a point at the death and you see last night [Burnley] the determination from that group of players.”

Tight
The relegation race is one of the tightest it has been in several years and Everton have still got their future in their hands as it stands.
Despite the upturn in form from Burnley over the last week, the blues have done well themselves to defeat Manchester United and then earn a draw at the death against Leicester.
With a game in hand they have the advantage because they can extend the gap over Burnley and not give them the chance to claw the deficit back in the next game.
But their run-in is incredibly tough, as pointed out by Sinclair. The Toffees must face Leicester twice, Chelsea, Liverpool, Brentford, Crystal Palace and Watford before the end of the campaign.
That’s infinitely tougher than Burnley’s run-in, but on paper Everton will be confident that they have the better squad. Their home form hasn’t been an issue, but they will need to get points on the road to stave off a last charge from their rivals.
