Everton midfielder Fabian Delph picks injury yet again

Frank Lampard has confirmed that Everton midfielder Fabian Delph has picked up an injury.

The 32-year-old returned from an injury setback against Leicester City but he wasn’t in the squad to face Liverpool.

The Toffees boss has suggested that Delph could be out for the two games, which means he is unlikely to face the home clash against Chelsea.

“Difficult decisions, they came in and have both been really effective. Delph for two games, Yerry for one,” said Lampard, as quoted by Liverpool Echo.

“Yerry was a bit stiff and tight two days after the game. It’s normal when you’ve been out for ten weeks and with his history it was a decision made with a though process of the next games coming up.

“Delph was similar. They’re important players for us and we took them out and the players who came in did well.”

Get rid

Delph produced a fantastic performance in midfield against Leicester City but he was absent once again.

He was brilliant in the 1-0 win over Manchester United as well where he bossed the midfielder at Goodison Park.

The 32-year-old is one of the senior players at the club but his time at Merseyside has been blighted by injuries.

For a player of his talent and calibre, it’s shame to see he has only managed five Premier League starts all season.

Yes, he is a technically gifted player who adds balance in midfield, but his injury record is horrible. The club will make a big blunder if they offer him a new contract extension.

The manager needs to bring someone into the team whom he can trust to deliver. With Delph, you never know when he’ll be fit to play.

The same goes with Yerry Mina as well. Both are top players but the club should get rid of them in the summer. In any case, Delph has a contract till the end of the season.
