Simon Jordan & Jim White lock horns over controversial Everton incident
Simon Jordan and Jim White have locked horns whilst discussing Richarlison’s celebration incident as Everton beat Chelsea 1-0 on Sunday [May 1].
The Brazil international “lost himself” in celebrations after scoring the winning goal early into the second half.
A flare was hurled onto the pitch by one of the Blues supporters and was thrown back into the crowd by the forward which has sparked much debate.
“He’s celebrating a goal with his own fans, he’s lost himself in the moment but he certainly hasn’t meant to cause any harm – there is no bad intent there,” Danny Murphy told talkSPORT.
“Ideally, of course, he wouldn’t do that because it could cause some damage.”
Jordan added: “It was ill-advised to throw it back into the crowd.
“I feel it would be incredibly harsh to feel the need to go retrospective on this.
“If the referee sends him off because there has been precedent in the previous example with Jamie Carragher – 20 years ago and the game has evolved since then – if there is a rule then the referee should have applied it at the time.”
To which White interrupted: “But what was wrong then is wrong now, surely?”

Who cares.
Once the fans had calmed down after Goodison Park completely erupted – many of the Everton fans would have thought ‘he is going to get into trouble for that’.
It was a brilliant celebration, one that will likely go down in the history books as the Blues look to avoid their first-ever relegation from the English topflight but players will struggle to get away with that.
Make no mistake, he shouldn’t be because there was no harm done but he will likely be made an example of by the FA.
Harvey Elliot was fined by them when he simply picked up a flare in Liverpool’s cup-winning celebrations in February so who knows what they will do with Richarlison and who cares.
The main thing is the Toffees won and took a huge step towards Premier League survival. If Frank Lampard navigates them to a win in their game in hand, the Blues leapfrog Leeds and Burnley up into 16th.
