Sky Sports pundit wants Stuart Attwell kept well away from Everton games after previous issues

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Stuart Attwell should “go to Australia” whenever there is an Everton game on after controversial decisions that have cost the club, says Kevin Campbell.

The referee was at the centre of the action in the Merseyside derby, which the Toffees eventually lost 2-0, where he booked Anthony Gordon for diving then failed to give him a penalty with the game goalless, while also choosing not to send off Sadio Mane for a hand in Mason Holgate’s face.

It wasn’t the first time he’d drawn the ire of the club, as he had instructed Craig Pawson to review his decision to book Allan in the game against Newcastle (17 March) whilst working as the VAR, with the Brazilian then sent off, and Sky Sports pundit Campbell has had enough of him.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News the ex-Toffees striker said: “Yeah, I’d like him to be in Australia when Everton are playing if I’m honest. For me, he’s bottled a couple of incidents. In the Merseyside derby.

“He sent of Allan when it easily could have been a yellow card, and it’s ended up costing Everton.

“And I’m not saying that Everton would have ended up winning the Merseyside derby, because the way Liverpool go they can peg anybody back, even if they go a goal down.

“But I think that would have given Everton something to hold on to, and they might have got something out of that game so who knows.

“Like I say, Attwell – you go to Australia whenever Everton are playing, honestly.”

Despite a crucial win against Chelsea Frank Lampard’s side are still in the relegation zone, two points behind both Leeds and Burnley.

There is no way of knowing where they would be if they had been awarded a penalty against 10 men at Anfield, or if they had had Allan available for the run of losses he was suspended for.

Cries of bias has resulted, but even if it is just incompetence Toffees fans would be happy to have seen the back of him for an extended period.

In other Everton news, there is no future at the club for one “experienced” player who looks set to leave in the summer.
