Frank Lampard shares injury update on Everton duo Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Yerry Mina

Frank Lampard is hopeful of having Dominic Calvert-Lewin available for Everton against Leicester, and praised Yerry Mina after his return.

The Toffees picked up a major win over Chelsea at the weekend to stay within two points of Burnley and Leeds, with a game in hand, in their battle against relegation.

It was the second game back for key defender Mina, and another game without striker Calvert-Lewin, but Lampard has shared, via Liverpool World, that he is ‘delighted’ with the progress both are making and hopes to have them both for the next game against Leicester.

“With Yerry, I’m delighted he’s come back into the fray in terms of his fitness,” he said.

“You can see that leadership, presence and personality he brings. He is a big leader for us. It was great to see him play like that.

“We have a week now [before the Leicester game] to get Dom [Calvert-Lewin] more fit, because he can be a big player for us – we know that – and to keep the levels in the squad high and positive.

“We have five big games left and still have a lot of work to do.”

Massive

Having Mina back is absolutely massive for Everton, who have really struggled defensively all season and especially when he hasn’t been available.

It’s no coincidence that the Toffees are unbeaten with him on the pitch since his return to fitness, and since Lampard’s arrival they have only conceded one goal from open play with him playing.

Calvert-Lewin on the other hand has really struggled individually this season, without a goal since August and suffering with several injuries throughout the campaign.

His return would be a big boost for the squad, but he may not go straight back into the side considering the good form of Richarlison, Anthony Gordon and Demarai Gray.

He would be allowed the time to get back to 100 percent and potentially make an impact from the bench, giving Lampard options later on in games that he hasn’t really had thus far in his tenure at Goodison Park.
