Michael Owen predicts result of Everton clash vs Leicester City

Michael Owen believes Everton could end their ‘disastrous’ away form when they face Leicester on Sunday [May 8] in the Premier League.

The Toffees are winless on the road since August and currently sit in the relegation zone, two points behind Burnley and Leeds with a game in hand.

But they travel to Leicester who are fresh off a midweek defeat in Europe, and Owen told BetVictor that he fancies Everton to get a result in a 1-0 win because they simply have more to play for.

“Leicester’s recent league form hasn’t been great,” he said.

“They’ve kept the ball well in a lot of these games, but they’ve not created or scored enough. They are still so reliant on Vardy to get the goals, they need others to step-up.

“It’s hard to overstate how big a win that was for Everton last week. They were under so much pressure and I was beginning to really worry for them. Their form at Goodison will be the key to them staying up.

“Everton’s away form has been disastrous all season, but I fancy them here! Leicester having played in Rome on Thursday, are bound to be a little fatigued and Everton just have far more to play for. 1-0 Everton.”

Needed

If Everton want to stay in the Premier League, they need to address their away form and with only five games remaining in the season and three of them being away it needs to happen now.

They have been presented with a great opportunity in this game to get much needed points in a tough fixture, because Leicester now have nothing left to play for.

The Foxes are set for a mid-table finish and will be physically and emotionally drained following their defeat to Roma in Italy on Thursday night.

With little recovery time between games, Everton must start fast and with high energy and ensure they remain strong defensively while taking any chances that fall their way.

It would be a huge boost to get all three points and put them in great stead for the midweek game against Watford on the road too.
