Yerry Mina slammed for ‘awful’ Everton role in wild first-half sequence at Leicester City
A crazy sequence at Leicester saw Everton go from almost doubling their lead to conceding an equaliser due to a Yerry Mina error within seconds.
Abdoulaye Doucoure’s effort was somehow kept out at one end by a combination of Kasper Schmeichel and the post, before the Colombian headed the ball into the path of Patson Daka to score at the other.
Confusion between Mina and his defensive colleague Seamus Coleman led to the goal, and there was a similar collision as he and centre-back partner Mason Holgate went for the same header soon after, before he picked up yet another injury and was replaced by Michael Keane.

Speaking on the world feed match coverage (8 May, 2.12 former Welsh international David Phillips said: “In the space of 20 seconds, Everton could have been 2-0 up. Kasper Schmeichel makes a great save down this side, then with a quick counter…
“Not quite sure what on earth is going on with the two centre-halves there. A total mix up. The ball shouldn’t be bouncing to start off with.
“Then it’s an awful back header.”
Calamity
The start the King Power was breathless to say the least, but the quick turnaround that led to the goal took it to another level.
Mina had started so well, making a crucial goal line block to keep an earlier Daka chance out inside the first two minutes.
Yet his communication with Holgate was non-existent on occasions they both went for the same ball and failed to deal with it, and he took Coleman out for the equaliser.

The Colombian had exhibited the sublime and the ridiculous already before he went off, which will be another concern for Frank Lampard for the final few games.
In fairness to him, the fact that similar communication issues continued between Holgate and Keane after he’d exited the game suggests the responsibility was not all his.
But it showed the defensive frailty that has been a feature of this side on the road for so long.
Even that came with a caveat, as Holgate was the scorer of the Toffees second goal, after fellow defender Vitalii Mykolenko had volleyed a screamer in from outsude the area to open the scoring.
