Everton manager Frank Lampard has stated that now is not the time to discuss the future of veteran midfielder Fabian Delph.

The 32-year-old has started the last four out of the five matches where the Toffees emerged victorious in three and drew one.

When asked about the future of Delph, whose current contract is set to expire in the summer, Lampard stated that three factors that must come together to sort out the situation.

“He [Delph] knows how I feel about him,” he said as quoted by Liverpool Echo.

“It’s a decision that’s one between firstly him, his decision and what he wants, secondly me and thirdly the club and how that comes together and now’s not the time for that one.”

Uncertain future

Delph’s career at the Goodison Park never reached its potential, largely because of numerous injuries over the last three seasons.

He joined the Liverpool-based club from Premier League giants Manchester City in a deal worth £8.55 million in the summer of 2019 and came in with high expectations.

However, Since then, because of hamstring, calf and shoulder injuries, the former England international has only represented the Toffees in 40 matches across all competitions and is yet to score or provide an assist.

In the ongoing campaign, he featured in just 10 Premier League fixtures, playing a total of 584 minutes for the club.

Even though Delph has been one of the star performers for Everton in their recent wins, it will be interesting to see whether the Everton board will decide to keep the former Leeds United midfielder, especially if the club goes down because the Bradford-born has just played six matches in the second-tier of English football.
