Lampard insists out-of-form striker is ‘absolutely focussed’ on aiding Everton’s survival battle
Everton boss Frank Lampard has insisted that out-of-form striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is “absolutely focussed” on their survival battle.
As reported by the Football Insider [14 May], Calvert-Lewin has held preliminary talks with Newcastle United about a potential move.
Lampard is aware of the speculation, but he insists that Calvert-Lewin is absolutely focussed on his duties at Goodison Park.

As quoted by talkSPORT, Lampard said: “I’m not silly, this is football and he’s a player that would be wanted by clubs because of the level of player he is.
“He is absolutely focused on the job.
“He’s been a big player for Everton and Everton has been a big club for him in his career.”
Lampard added: “He has three years left on his contract, and I want to take this club forward.
“I know he hasn’t been playing at the minute because he’s been getting fit but now he’s fit so hopefully he’ll contribute in these last few games for starters.”
New start for Calvert-Lewin
It feels as if Calvert-Lewin is at a crossroads in his career and needs a new start.
With the forward having three years left on his contract, the Toffees would be in a good position to command a reasonably large fee for the striker.
After a promising start to his Everton career, Calvert-Lewin hasn’t hit the heights many have expected from him.
He has all the attributes to be a top-class striker but for whatever reason, Goodison Park doesn’t seem like the place where the England striker will develop.

A move to Newcastle would be an interesting transfer, with the Magpies desperate for another iconic number nine to spearhead the Saudi revolution at St James’ Park.
Arsenal are also desperate for a new centre forward to build their side around the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the uncertain future of Alexandre Lacazette.
The Emirates could be a good place for Calvert-Lewin to kickstart his career.
Mikel Arteta’s side would certainly create enough chances for the England man.
With his aerial ability, pace and physicality the Everton striker will find his form again, whether it is at Goodison Park remains to be seen.
