David Prutton lashes out at Salomon Rondon after Everton loss v Brentford
David Prutton has lashed out at Salomon Rondon after he picked up a red card during Everton 3-2 loss against Brentford on Sunday (15 May) at Goodison Park.
While doing a commentary on the game for the Premier League world feed, the popular Sky Sports pundit branded the challenge from Rondon as “utterly ridiculous”.
With Everton trailing 3-2, Frank Lampard threw Rondon into the attack, but he let everyone down with a poor lunge, moments after taking to the pitch.

“Well, you just can’t do that. Ridiculous. Utterly, utterly ridiculous,” said Prutton (87th min, live feed).
“Ridiculous challenge, on the back of what has been a ridiculous season for Everton.”
Spot on
Prutton is absolutely spot on here. What was he thinking?
He just came on the pitch, and all he needed to do was to stay high up the pitch and trouble the opposition defenders.
Rondon shouldn’t have anywhere near the halfway line. It was a pathetic attempt from the Venezuela striker.
Well, he may have apologized for his action, but the situation at the moment is that of life and death – there is no margin for error.

On Sunday, both Leeds United and Burnley dropped points and it was the perfect opportunity for the Toffees to secure the Premier League safety.
However, as it turned out, Everton will have to win against Crystal Palace to guarantee their status in the Premier League next season.
The Toffees were brilliant in patches, but once again, individual errors had hurt the team badly. Leaving aside the red cards, some of the defending has been horrible.
Jordan Pickford was brilliant once again, but he has not been protected by a strong defensive wall ahead of him.
In other Everton news, Jeff Stelling was interrupted by a Sky Sports pundit who wanted to make a point about Evertonians on Sky Sports News.
