Everton remain keen on Sheffield United talent Daniel Jebbison dubbed the new ‘Calvert-Lewin’

Everton remain keen on young Sheffield United striker Daniel Jebbison who is seen as the “new Dominic Calvert-Lewin”, according to Football League World.

According to TEAMtalk, Jebbison, 18, was reportedly subject to interest from Everton prior to the January transfer window.

Jebbison scored his debut Premier League goal against Everton last season for the Blades.

The Toffees’ interest is said to have remained, with Football League world reporting on Tuesday [17 May], that Everton are still keen on the striker and have likened him to Calvert-Lewin.

Jebbison scored seven goals on loan at Burton Albion in the first half of the season, averaging a goal every other game.

Big talent

This is exactly the type of signing that Everton should be pursuing in the future.

The Toffees have too often persisted with signing underperforming players on high wages.

The England youth international would come at a reasonable price and on relatively low wages.

Jebbison crucially has EFL experience at a young age and thrived at Burton in the first half of the season.

Jebbison has all the attributes to be a top striker, with pace, physicality and a good finishing ability.

Going forward, Everton should be attempting to target similar players to Jebbison.

Their previous opponents Brentford have turned themselves into an established Premier League club off of signing younger EFL players and developing them.

Frank Lampard has previously been successful in developing young talent whilst he was at Derby County and Chelsea, so he could be entrusted to manage a change in recruitment.

Regardless of the Toffees’ league status next season, a change in recruitment strategy is needed.
