Gabby Agbonlahor issues Crystal Palace warning ahead of Everton clash

Gabby Agbonlahor believes Everton will face a tough test against Crystal Palace as the Toffees look to secure their Premier League status for next season.

The Toffees face Patrick Viera’s side on Thursday evening [19 May] with Lampard’s side knowing a win will secure their Premier League status for next season.

However, former Aston Villa striker Agbonlahor believes that the Eagles will provide a stern test at Goodison Park.

Talking on talkSPORT breakfast on Thursday [06:40 19, May], Agbonlahor said: “You do not want to play Palace.

“Aston Villa played them at home on the weekend and it was a tough game.

“They don’t give up Palace so this is not a guaranteed three points for Everton tonight.”

Tough test

Palace still have slim aspirations of breaking into the top 10 this season so will certainly be no pushovers.

The Eagles having very little to play for means Viera’s side could be very dangerous, particularly on the break.

Everton cannot defend as they did against Brentford or else Palace will exploit the space behind Everton’s back four.

If things don’t go to plan for Lampard’s side then their reaction to falling behind or a bad decision will be crucial in determining the direction in which this fixture goes.

Too many times this season the Toffees have reacted poorly to adversity with their most recent match against Brentford a prime example of a side that cannot deal with setbacks well.

If the Toffees start their match against the Eagles in the same way did against Brentford then they have a good a chance of picking up all three points

One thing is for certain the Goodison faithful will be praying for a stress-free trip to the capital on Sunday [22 May]
