BBC journalist shares ‘bizarre’ scenes in Everton away end v Arsenal
Alistair Magowan has shared the “bizarre” scenes from Everton fans that he spotted at the Emirates during the Toffees’ final day loss against Arsenal.
It was a carnival atmosphere in the away end with the Blues already safe from Premier League relegation after their emphatic comeback against Crystal Palace in the week.
Despite losing the game 5-1, the Evertonians still found something to celebrate as their bitter Merseyside rivals just missed out on the title to Manchester City.

He said on BBC’s live coverage of the game: “Bizarre scenes here as Arsenal fans celebrate a goal shortly before Everton fans are up off their seats cheering.
“They’ve just heard that Manchester City have gone 3-2 up. The blue smoke flares are out!
He added: “Everton fans have heard the news and they are bouncing.
“Staying in the Premier League and seeing Liverpool miss out on the title means there might be a few more scoops sunk tonight!”
Perfect.
The news that Manchester City had clinched the title added to the carnival atmosphere – it would have been hell with all of the Liverpool fans parading around the city having picked up another trophy ahead of their Champions League final next weekend.

It couldn’t be a better day for Everton fans. Nobody will care that they got battered against Arsenal – not even Frank Lampard.
All that matters is that the Toffees will still be a Premier League team next season despite the odds being majorly stacked against them all season.
They looked down and out at several different stages of the season but nothing can stop the Blues.
The hardest run of fixtures whilst sitting in the bottom three, the worst away form in the league, a catalogue of disgraceful decisions from the officials, injuries to key players – it doesn’t matter, you just can’t keep the Everton team down.
Hopefully, next season is very different but for now, everyone can enjoy a perfect last day.
