Jonjoe Kenny hints at return to Germany amid uncertain Everton future

Everton defender Jonjoe Kenny has hinted that he might return to Germany amid his uncertain future on Merseyside.

The 25-year-old is out of contract this summer and could be on his way out of Finch Farm after several loan spells after being at the club since the youth level.

Having spent some time in the Bundesliga at Schalke, the right-back has hinted that a return to Germany could be on the cards.

“Trust, playing time and development,” he told Sport1 via Liverpool Echo. “That’s important to me. I have to feel comfortable, but basically, a lot is possible.

“Schalke is the only club from the Bundesliga that I have played for, so of course, I have a special bond there. But there are many interesting clubs in Germany, the league offers a lot.”

Time to go.

As harsh as it sounds, it is about time Kenny moves on – permanently.

Hats off to the lad, he has always stayed and fought for his place despite being sent out on several loan spells.

Even this season he found himself enjoying some game time under Lampard but it was very clear to the former Chelsea boss that he wasn’t good enough – which is why he was soon dropped.

The fact that he has seemingly fallen out of favour with yet another manager at the club should tell him everything he needs to know.

He is a local lad with a lot of passion and understanding of the clubs’ values and what it means to be an Evertonian but he simply isn’t good enough.

Kenny has to move on in the summer, for the sake of his own career because surely he can’t rot on the bench any longer.
